The Non-Miniport drivers for Smart Array Controllers are an alternative set of device drivers for the Microsoft Windows operating system. These drivers provide support for the non-embedded Smart Array 5x/6x and Smart Array SAS/SATA Controllers. Management utilities such as Insight Manager and the Array Configuration Utility are not supported by these drivers. If you require use of these utilities, you should not install these drivers. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that directory.
From that drive and directory, execute the softpaq. The softpaq will automatically extract the files to the current directory.
You may now delete the softpaq from your hard drive.
Copy the extracted files and directories to a diskette and label it 'Smart Array Controllers Non-Miniport Drivers for Microsoft Windows Server 2003/2008'.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: Installing the Smart Array Controllers Non-Miniport Drivers is a two step process. The controller device driver must be installed first, followed by the disk device driver. It is recommended that you start with the controller with the smallest number of logical drives. Once the disk driver is installed for all logical drives on the first controller, the Microsoft Windows Server 2003/2008 Plug-and-Play Manager will automatically install it for logical drives on subsequent controllers that are changed to use the controller device driver.
